Freshness: TOTOX value
The figures are less comparable than they look. Eqology quotes TOTOX 4.7 for its cod oil before blending with olive oil and flavouring (supplier certificate Pharma Marine, batch DF9740926, 14 September 2026). For Norsan, IFOS measured the finished product: 11.94 for Total Natural (lot 471102604) and 16.48 for Total Lemon (lot 464262605) (IFOS reports, 2026), both below the IFOS limit of 19.5. Compared raw oil with raw oil, Norsan quotes 10 for its Total fish oil (Norsan raw material analysis, April 2026). On raw oil, Eqology is lower; for the finished product, only Norsan has third-party figures.

Certification and transparency
Here the picture reverses: Norsan is listed in the IFOS database, the best-known third-party testing programme for fish oil, with batch reports published. This means purity, potency and freshness are confirmed and published by an external body.
Eqology publishes TOTOX reports but is not registered in the IFOS database. Its freshness values are thus self-declared, not independently verified.
