Note on the objectivity of this page

This assessment comes from an Eqology partner. That means: we receive a commission if you purchase Eqology through our recommendation. We tell you this openly, because transparency is the foundation of this website — and because we believe: whoever answers the toughest questions honestly is more credible than a hidden advertisement. You will see why shortly.

If you have Googled "Eqology review", you probably already know: opinions are divided. Enthusiastic users swear by their measurably improved Omega-3 Index. Critics take issue with the MLM distribution model and the price. Both are — at least partially — right. In this article we take Eqology apart: the product with measurable quality data, the business model with clear limitations, and the price with an honest comparison. By the end you will know whether Eqology makes sense for you — or not. Because we have no interest in selling you something that does not suit you. Long-term credibility matters more to us than short-term commission.

What is Eqology?

Eqology Pure Arctic Oil — 300 ml bottle with Arctic cod, organic olive oil and vitamin D3
Eqology Pure Arctic Oil — the core product: Arctic cod + cold-pressed organic olive oil + vitamin D3, available in lemon or orange (300 ml).

Eqology is a Norwegian company founded in 2013, specialising in high-concentration omega-3. The portfolio includes fish oil and algae oil products, with the core product being Pure Arctic Oil — available as Pure Arctic Oil Natural, Pure Arctic Oil Heart & Energy (with CoQ10), Pure Arctic Oil Gold (high DHA content + lutein) and Pure Arctic Oil for Kids. Distribution is exclusively via network marketing, now operating in more than 25 countries. What distinguishes Eqology from virtually all other omega-3 suppliers is not the product alone, but the system behind it: the combination of high-quality fish oil and an integrated blood test.

Composition in detail: 100 % Arctic cod (CodMarine®) + cold-pressed organic olive oil + vitamin D3. Each ml contains 142 mg EPA+DHA (equivalent to 1,500 mg EPA+DHA in the recommended daily dose of 10 ml for 70 kg body weight). Flavours: lemon or orange. Dosage formula: 0.15 ml per kg body weight — for a 70 kg adult, about a tablespoon daily. In the first month, double the dose is recommended to replenish depleted stores.

The unique selling point: full fatty acid blood test included

With Eqology you are not simply buying a fish oil — you are buying a measure-and-optimise system. Depending on the package tier selected, the first order includes zero, one or two blood tests based on the clinically validated DBS method (Dried Blood Spot). The test measures Omega-3 Index, Omega-6:3 ratio and a profile of 11 fatty acids — you receive a complete fatty acid report (Full Spectrum Fatty Acids Report). The laboratory behind it is Vitas AS in Oslo, Norway — the same GMP-certified laboratory that analyses Zinzino's BalanceTest. You measure your baseline value, take the product consistently for four months and measure again. Results appear after 20–25 working days at omegaratiotest.com. The direct before-and-after comparison shows you in black and white whether and how much your Omega-3 status and Omega-6:3 ratio have improved.

No other mainstream supplier offers this model as standard. Nordic Naturals, NORSAN and other quality brands sell you a good product — but you never know whether your body actually benefits. The Omega-3 Index is not a marketing construct but a clinical biomarker recognised by the ISSFAL (International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids) that has been used in research for over two decades. Scientific studies confirm its value as a risk marker for cardiovascular disease — similar to the HDL cholesterol value.

The Eqology starter package — how the entry is structured

Those ordering from Eqology for the first time receive not one but two bottles of Pure Arctic Oil. This has a practical background that is well grounded in omega-3 science: a double daily dose is recommended in the first month, to rapidly replenish the omega-3 stores that are depleted in most people. Two bottles cover this starting month exactly — from month two the subscription switches to one bottle per month.

Dosage: what is a daily serving?

The standard daily dose is 10 ml daily, but is weight-dependent and in practice varies between 8 and 12 ml per day. Lighter individuals tend to take 8 ml, heavier individuals 12 ml. One bottle (300 ml) lasts approximately one month. In the starting month a double amount — 16 to 20 ml daily — is recommended so that omega-3 stores in the tissue reach a functional level quickly. Afterwards one bottle monthly suffices. Nutritional values per daily dose (10 ml) Pure Arctic Oil Natural: EPA 680 mg, DHA 820 mg, EPA+DHA 1,500 mg, total omega-3 approximately 1,950 mg.

Test kit depending on package tier

Depending on the starter option chosen, the first order includes zero, one or two Omega-3 Index blood tests. The basic package without a test is suitable if you already know your baseline value. With one test you receive a valid baseline value. With two tests — baseline plus a follow-up test after four months — you have the complete before-and-after comparison already in your entry package. For maximum measurement transparency the two-test variant is the most recommended choice, because it shows you in black and white after four months whether and how much your Omega-3 status has risen.

Eqology product quality under review — the facts

Quality claims are easily made. We therefore look here exclusively at measurable, publicly verifiable criteria — no marketing promises.

Certifications — what Eqology actually has

Eqology is not certified under the IFOS/Nutrasource programme — this is an important point that many sources misrepresent. What Eqology can genuinely demonstrate is nevertheless impressive: the fish oil comes from the CodMarine® raw material line from Pharma Marine AS (Ålesund, Norway), which is MSC-certified (MSC-C-53726, additionally Friend of the Sea). Eqology is a GOED member (Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s) and is therefore bound by the GOED quality monographs. The product is listed on the Cologne List — meaning WADA-compliant anti-doping screening, relevant for competitive athletes. Additionally, Eqology has won the International Taste Award (2 stars) annually since 2018.

Eqology publishes batch-specific TOTOX reports that confirm freshness quality. This internal transparency is commendable, but does not replace independent third-party testing by an accredited laboratory such as IFOS. Manufacturing takes place under HACCP, GMP, IFS and BRC standards in Norway (awarded "Made in Norway" by Innovation Norway). Further details on certification standards for fish oil can be found in our article on Omega-3 Certifications.

The fish source: CodMarine® from Pharma Marine

The oil for Pure Arctic Oil comes from the CodMarine® line from Pharma Marine AS, Ålesund, Norway. The primary species used are Arctic cod (Gadus morhua), along with saithe (Pollachius virens) and haddock (Melanogrammus aeglefinus). Pharma Marine operates 7 factory vessels; the oil is produced within 6 hours of the catch — this minimises oxidation at source. The entire supply chain is MSC-certified.

The molecular form: natural triglyceride form (TG)

Eqology Pure Arctic Oil is in natural triglyceride form (TG) according to official Eqology materials. This is better bioavailable than ethyl esters (EE), which are commonly found in cheaper mass-market products. EE preparations show up to 50% lower absorption when taken on an empty stomach. Some independent analyses refer to "TG or rTG" — whether it is re-esterified TG (rTG) is not explicitly confirmed in Eqology's official materials. We therefore refer to natural TG form, which already represents a clear quality advantage over EE. A detailed explanation of the differences can be found in our article on Triglyceride form and bioavailability.

TOTOX value and freshness

The TOTOX value is the central measurement for the oxidation quality of a fish oil. It is composed of the anisidine value (secondary oxidation) and double the peroxide value (primary oxidation). The GOED limit is 26. Eqology publishes batch-specific TOTOX reports; the stated values regularly fall in the single-digit range — which indicates excellent freshness. For comparison: commercial fish oils from discount retailers often show TOTOX values between 15 and 40, sometimes above the limit. Oxidised fish oil is not only ineffective but can potentially be pro-inflammatory. What a high TOTOX value specifically means and how to classify it for any product is explained in our article on TOTOX value and oxidation.

Criterion Eqology Pure Arctic Oil Natural GOED limit Commercial fish oil
TOTOX value <10 (batch-tested) 26 max. Often 15–40
Molecular form Natural TG form (better than EE) Usually EE or TG
Heavy metals Below EU limit EU Reg. 1881/2006 Varies greatly
EPA+DHA per daily dose (10 ml) 1,500 mg (EPA 680 mg + DHA 820 mg) 180–500 mg
Independent certification MSC, Cologne List, GOED member Often none
EPA+DHA declaration verified Own batch testing (no IFOS) Often not

The 5 toughest objections — and what really lies behind them

We know the critics' arguments. Here are the five we hear most often — and our honest answers. No glossing over, no deflection.

Objection 1: "Eqology is MLM — isn't that a pyramid scheme?"

The truth:

MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) and pyramid schemes are legally distinct. Pyramid schemes without a genuine product are illegal in the UK under the Pyramid Selling Regulations. Eqology is a legally operating direct sales company that sells high-quality products to end consumers — in more than 25 countries, for over ten years. Eqology is a DSA member (Direct Selling Association). The core business is the product, not recruitment. Anyone who only recruits without actually selling products earns nothing at Eqology — that is precisely what distinguishes legitimate MLM from a pyramid scheme. The multi-level commission model distributes an estimated 35% of revenue to business partners; Eqology does not currently publish a public Income Disclosure Statement.

Objection 2: "Eqology is far too expensive — it's just to cover the commission"

The truth:

Eqology is more expensive than discount-shop fish oil — that is true. But the comparison is misleading. The relevant comparison is with other TG-quality products: Pure Arctic Oil Natural costs approximately €55 per bottle (300 ml) at single purchase, on a 6-month subscription only €41/month as a Premium Customer (25 % discount). The Omega-3 Index test costs €88 single purchase; in the 6-month concept only €55 per test (37 % savings). NORSAN Total Omega-3 or Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega are similarly priced — without included blood tests. An Omega-3 Index test from a self-test provider costs €70 to €90 per measurement. Depending on the package tier, one or two tests are already included with Eqology — making the overall package often more economical for quality-conscious users than the sum of individual parts.

Objection 3: "You can't earn money as a partner — it's a trap"

The truth:

This is a genuine objection — with a genuine answer: Eqology is not a get-rich-quick model. Anyone with unrealistic income expectations will be disappointed. Eqology is interesting for three types of people: firstly, consumers using a partner purchase discount. Secondly, honest recommenders in their personal network who share the blood test and their results. Thirdly, network builders with patience and a realistic timeframe. If you belong in category 2 or 3 without really being there: stay away.

Objection 4: "The Omega-3 Index test is a marketing trick"

The truth:

The Omega-3 Index has been established in clinical research for more than 20 years. A landmark study by Harris & Von Schacky (PMID: 22628085) demonstrates its value as a cardiac risk marker. The DBS method (Dried Blood Spot) used by Eqology is clinically validated; the Vitas AS laboratory (Oslo) analyses 11 fatty acids, with results appearing after 20–25 working days at omegaratiotest.com. There are no hidden costs or automatic obligations through the test. It is the centrepiece of the model — because it shows whether the product works for you personally. That is the opposite of a marketing trick.

Objection 5: "Fish oil is fish oil — why buy Eqology?"

The truth:

No. Quality differences in fish oil are considerable and measurable. Oxidised oil with a high TOTOX value can be pro-inflammatory and is therapeutically ineffective. Cheap ethyl ester preparations have demonstrably lower bioavailability than TG products, especially when taken on an empty stomach. Eqology Pure Arctic Oil Natural delivers 1,500 mg EPA+DHA per 10 ml — significantly more than most commercial products. MSC certification, the Cologne List and GOED membership are verifiable quality characteristics. That is measurable, publicly verifiable — and the reason why quality fish oil costs more than a supermarket product.

Eqology prices — what you really pay

The most common mistake when comparing prices: Eqology is compared against the cheapest fish oil in the chemist. That is not a fair comparison — neither in terms of quality class nor the overall package. More relevant is the question: what does the total package of starter delivery, dosage logic and test system cost compared to the individual components?

What you receive Price individually (market comparison) In the Eqology package
2 bottles Pure Arctic Oil Natural (starting month, double dose) ~€110 single purchase (2 × ~€55) Included in starter package
Omega-3 Index blood test — baseline value (DBS method, Vitas AS Oslo) €88 single / €55 in the 6-month concept 0, 1 or 2 tests depending on tier
Follow-up test after 4 months (2nd measurement, 11 fatty acids) ~€88 (single purchase) Included in higher package tiers
Ongoing subscription from month 2: 1 bottle/month €55 single / €41 in the 6-month subscription Included in subscription
Eqology 6-month concept visualisation — baseline and follow-up Omega-3 Index measurement with monthly oil delivery over 6 months
The 6-month concept: baseline measurement → 6 months of intake → follow-up measurement. This is how the effect becomes measurable.

Worked example: how the 6-month concept adds up

6-month concept with 2 tests: approximately €356 total

Alternative view: If you subtract the 2 tests at full price (€176), only €180 remains for 6 bottles of oil — effectively €30 per bottle instead of €55 at single purchase.

Frequently asked questions about Eqology

Is Eqology legitimate?

Yes. Eqology is a Norwegian-registered company that has operated in over 25 countries since 2013. Pure Arctic Oil is MSC-certified (MSC-C-53726), listed on the Cologne List (anti-doping), and Eqology is a GOED member. Eqology publishes batch-specific TOTOX reports. The network marketing model is legal and regulated; Eqology is a DSA member. Legitimate MLM differs from pyramid schemes by having a genuinely high-quality product — which is the case with Eqology.

How much does Eqology Pure Arctic Oil cost?

Pure Arctic Oil Natural costs approximately €55 per bottle (300 ml) at single purchase. On a 6-month subscription the price as a Premium Customer is only €41/month (25 % discount). The first order includes two bottles — because double the daily dose is recommended in the starting month. Depending on the package tier, zero, one or two Omega-3 Index tests are included (single test €88, in the 6-month concept only €55 (37 % savings)). The two-test package is often the more economical overall model for quality-conscious users.

Does Eqology actually work or is it just marketing?

The Omega-3 Index demonstrably rises when EPA+DHA is supplied in sufficient and regular amounts. This is not an Eqology claim but is supported by hundreds of clinical studies. The Omega-3 Index test to ISSFAL standards makes individual effectiveness measurable. Whether and how strongly Eqology works for you will be visible after four months in a comparison test — that is the countermodel to mere advertising promises.

What is the difference between Eqology and Zinzino?

Both use network marketing and a blood test measuring Omega-3 Index, Omega-6:3 ratio and an 11-fatty-acid profile — analysed in the same laboratory (Vitas AS, Oslo). Eqology uses pure fish oil in natural triglyceride form (TG), Zinzino uses a fish oil-olive oil blend (BalanceOil) with polyphenol content. Neither holds an IFOS certification. Eqology has MSC and the Cologne List, Zinzino has Friend of the Sea. Both are priced at approximately €41/month on subscription. The full comparison can be found in the article Eqology vs. Zinzino.

Is it worth becoming an Eqology partner?

That depends on your expectations. As a pure consumer with a partner discount: yes, if you want to use the product anyway. As an honest recommender with a small side income: possible, if you are in the right environment and find the product genuinely convincing. As a full-time business: only with a network, patience and very realistic expectations regarding the timeframe. Eqology is a DSA member; there is no public Income Disclosure Statement at present.

What happens if my Omega-3 test shows no deficiency?

Eqology offers a money-back guarantee: if your Omega-3 Index test shows you do not have an Omega-3 deficiency, you get your money back. This is a genuine zero-risk offer — you only pay if the test confirms a deficiency and you actually need the oil. For the majority (~97 % of Europeans have insufficient levels) this is a purely theoretical case, but it still matters as an assurance.

Do I really have to stay in the 6-month concept for a full 6 months?

Yes, the 6-month concept has a minimum term of 6 months — not for contractual reasons, but because the Omega-3 Index takes around 4 months to change measurably. The logic: baseline measurement → 4 months of intake → follow-up test → result. After the 6 months the subscription is cancel-monthly. Those sceptical of subscription models can choose the PrePaid variant: 7 bottles + 2 tests in a single delivery, without subscription commitment. Savings total €164 versus single purchase (7 × €41 instead of 7 × €55 = €98 savings on bottles, plus 2 × €55 instead of 2 × €88 = €66 savings on tests).

Can I bring my monthly costs down to zero?

Yes — via the Eqology referral programme: with 3 active referrals, your own bottle is free. This is not an income promise but a pure consumer model: you recommend the product honestly to three people who order it themselves, and your ongoing monthly bottle is credited. For people who already talk about Omega-3 (family, friends, sports or health circles), it is a fair deal.
